SSP Architects was selected to complete a Facilities Conditions Assessment (FCA) of the entire inventory of New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) buildings throughout the state. Encompassing work at each of the 629 buildings, this project provided the NJDOT with an updated FCA, as well as a Capital Renewal and Improvement Plan.
The SSP team conducted a comprehensive and detailed building inventory and condition assessment of each NJDOT owned facility. Our work included examining all building components, from roofing and exterior envelope conditions to mechanical systems operations to ADA guideline compliance. Following the completion of all field work, SSP Architects and our engineering consultant partners compiled a detailed report to address asset management issues affecting the remaining functional service life of the NJDOT facilities. We worked closely with NJDOT on the Capital Renewal and Improvement Plan, identifying the improvements needs across all facilities, highlighting strategic opportunities for investment, and cataloging projects to assist the NJDOT in setting budgetary set asides across its programs for the next decade.

Overall, SSP managed this effort across multiple site teams visiting hundreds of sites, and compiling nearly 8,000 pages of reporting, all within the NJDOT’s original required schedule.
