SSP Architects is working with Ernest Bock Construction and the New Jersey School Development Authority (NJSDA) on a design/build project for a new elementary school in Irvington, NJ. The primary goal of the New Madison Avenue School project is to help alleviate the severe overcrowding problem within Irvington’s elementary schools and to replace aging facilities.

The Irvington School District, located in Essex County, New Jersey has experienced increasing enrollments and, as a result, severe overcrowding in its elementary schools for several years, with enrollments anticipated to continue to increase over the next several years. The school system serves a diverse population of nearly 7,046 students. As part of the District’s Long Range Facilities Plan, the District has proposed and prioritized construction of new school facilities in Irvington Borough to address overcrowding in grades PK-5.

Once completed, the New Madison Avenue School will accommodate educational programs and support services for an optimum capacity of 463 students in grades Pre-K through 5 and a maximum capacity of 504 students.
