Civic | Somerset County Courts The Somerset County Courts Complex is currently undergoing renovations to accommodate changed functions as a result of County population growth and the ensuing increased caseload over the past two decades.
Key to the improvements to the facilities is the accommodation of technology and the requirements of updated security protocols for the facility type, which have been at the forefront of the space reprogramming for the Central Fee office, Civil Division, and the expansion of Courtrooms for the County. The relocation/renovation of the Central Fee Office will afford the department a more central location on the facility’s ground floor. With easier access for the community, the heavily trafficked space will include high security features such as metal detectors and bulletproof glazing.
The relocation/renovation of the Civil Division offices will also address these security requirements, as well as technology upgrades that will better accommodate that department’s arbitration caseload. The expansion of the number of courtrooms in the facility is a response to the changes in the county’s judicial requirements. The accommodation of each District’s judges with individual court spaces requires not only the design of new courtrooms and their appurtenant ancillary spaces, but the upgrade of all security and technology features throughout every courtroom. |
