Bayonne Midtown Community School

The Bayonne Midtown Community School is a “Blue Ribbon” school nationally recognized as a model of community school design principles. The 170,000 s.f. facility features several innovative design ideas for both students and the neighborhood the school serves. It was designed to implement significant District advances in technology, adaptability and durability.

The building accommodates 1,200 students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. It was the first elementary school in New Jersey equipped with broadband access in every classroom and isfully air conditioned to allow for year-round use. Placed on a compact urban site, parking is provided in a pillared underground space situated below the building’s first floor.

Learning spaces include computer and wet science laboratories, a technologically and acoustically sophisticated music room, and a gallery/reading space set over and around the school’s entrance atrium.
